Commemorative flags were hung from the 44-metre-tall crane at the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment site in recognition of ANZAC Day on Tuesday 25 April.
ANZAC Day is significant for Riverina local and ADCO site foreman Todd Hansen who arranged for the hanging of the flags in consultation with the Griffith RSL Sub Branch. Todd’s grandfather served in the Australian Navy in World War 2. Todd attends the ANZAC Dawn Service every year and marches in Leeton wearing his grandfather’s medals.
The flags were hung from the crane, which is a prominent local landmark, between Thursday 20 April and Wednesday 26 April. The Australian and Aboriginal flags, and ‘Hope’ (flag name) were reinstated on Wednesday 26 April.
