And the winning name is ….HOPE

Congratulations to 7-year-old Celina Piva from St Patrick’s Primary School and winner of the Griffith Base Hospital (GBH) Redevelopment Name the Crane Competition! Celina selected the name to “hope the sick people get better and help the builders”. A banner with the name is displayed from the 44-metre tower crane.

The students have won vouchers to Collins Booksellers, Toyworld, or GB’s Sport & Lifestyle in Griffith. The Name the Crane Competition received an impressive 175 entries from schools across the Western Riverina. Thank you to all those students who shared their talents and entered the competition. It was a difficult task for the 3-member judging panel!

There has been a huge response to the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment ‘Name the Crane’ competition which closed last Friday. Thank you to more than 150 students from schools across the Western Riverina  who took the time to colour, consider and submit creative entries.

The judges will have a difficult decision choosing a winner! The entries look fantastic posted up in the corridor at the back of the Hospital. Stay tuned for more information about the winning name in the coming weeks.

Local primary school students have the chance to name a 44-metre-tall crane, which has been installed to support construction for the new Clinical Services Building at Griffith Base Hospital. The three-storey Clinical Services Building is the centrepiece of the $250 million Griffith Base Hospital redevelopment.
The ‘Name the Crane Competition’ is open to Western Riverina students from LGAs in the catchment of Griffith Base Hospital – Griffith, Lachlan, Bland, Hay, Leeton, Carrathool, Murrumbidgee and Narrandera.
Students are being asked to colour a drawing of the crane and to give it a name on the entry form. In addition to a number of great prizes, the winning name will be displayed on a banner on the tower crane for all the community to see.

BEST CRANE NAME:
$1000 book or sporting goods voucher for the school of the overall winner for best crane name.
Winner $100 voucher + name displayed on a banner on the tower crane
Runner-up $30 voucher

BEST COLOURING:
Winner $50 voucher
Runner-up $30 voucher

EXTRA EFFORT:
Winner $50 voucher
Runner-up $30 voucher
Vouchers are for book, toy or sporting good vouchers

A selection of the students’ entries will be displayed in the Griffith Base Hospital and the winner of the naming competition will be invited to attend a crane-naming ceremony at a date to be announced.
